Chapter 21

Sartin pushed his upper body off Maru and enjoyed the stretch of his lower back and the friction of their cocks pressed together. After a minute, Sartin leaned down and kissed Maru again. Maru accepted the kisses with enthusiasm. Then Sartin worked his way down Maru’s body.

He didn’t stop at the nipples like Maru had, but headed directly for Maru’s hard cock. Sartin paused when his tongue slipped over the hair that grew at Maru’s belly button. Sartin lapped at the treasure trail that led to Maru’s cock.

Maru wiggled and giggled while Sartin slurped at the peculiar hair. “That tickles.”

Satisfied with his curiosity, Sartin took his hand and rubbed Maru’s stomach. The giggles turned to groans. Sartin recognized the moans. He had coaxed those sounds from Thornton.

Sartin ran his hand down Maru’s abdomen, his fingertips discovering each ridge, valley, and plain that the tight muscles formed on Maru’s skin, just like Sartin’s own tight stomach. He paused, again, when he reached the bush of black hair that grew above Maru’s cock. Sartin spread his fingers and carded through the black, curly mass. Maru flinched.

“Am I hurting you?” Sartin turned his head from the object of his attention to Maru’s face.

“Only when the hair tangles, and it doesn’t hurt as much as surprise me.”

“I’m sorry. I’ve never seen this pubic hair before. It’s sexy and a bit revolting at the same time.”

Maru laughed. “I’m sorry if it’s revolting. Kekoa wants me to trim it down, but I figure if I refuse to do that he’ll be less attracted to me.”

Sartin pushed himself back up to Maru’s face and kissed his lips. He rested his forehead on Maru’s and stroked Maru’s cheek. “You don’t know how lucky you are. I’ve been praying to the Princess for five seasons for a suitable mate and here you have what sounds like a fine warrior who wants you.”

Maru pushed Sartin aside and sat up. The rain continued to pound down upon the shelter and the beach, its roar filling Sartin’s ears.

“I wish it were that easy.”

Sartin sat up and scooted closer to Maru. Sartin rubbed Maru’s thigh. “I didn’t mean to offend. I just—”

“I know. I’m sorry to be so sensitive about it. I guess I’m a bit confused.”

Sartin rolled over on his stomach as lightning flashed and thunder sounded. “About what?”

“What’s going on between us.”

“Oh.” Although very much attracted Maru, Sartin hadn’t considered the consequences of sleeping with him.

Thornton always wanted to keep their trysts secret. Sartin came and went as he pleased during the Winter Beach meetings, then they resumed their clandestine relationship in the summer.

Maru broke Sartin’s reverie. “How long are you staying?”

Sartin rolled back over and sat up, no longer touching Maru. “I…I don’t know. Right now, I have no idea where Winter Beach is. I can barely sense that food is near.”

“Then you are leaving me when you are well?”

“Yes.”

“Just like the legends tell…”

“I’m sorry, Maru, but I don’t belong here.”

“I don’t think I do either, sometimes.”

Sartin chuckled. “I know exactly how you feel.
